Walt Disney promotes nuclear power to the masses, touting the benefits of “clean power”, nuclear medicine, and many other uses. Turning hard science into “junk science” is one of the ways in which those in power keep the average citizen out of the real debate. Take a look at this video at 30 minutes to see how Disney does this. Disney offers that nuclear material belongs not only in power systems, but also in animal food, human food, and in your body as a “miracle medicine”. Fast forward a few decades, and this translates to today’s modern medicine as radiation and chemotherapy, big agra production in round up and other green plant killers, and continues in GMO practices…
Walt Disney and other industry giants have been selling the public on ideas of industry and policy for decades. They have worked to shape public opinion to suit their investments and drive support for government expenditures for their projects and ultimately their own massive prosperity. Mass media continues to be the driving force of not only our choices in energy, industry, food, health, and social policy, but also in the fight against rapid climate change. The media provides a limited two-sided argument that directs public sentiment for and against the rationales of whether or not human industry has an effect on the increasingly violent weather patterns. Left out however, are third party voices of scientists and factual evidence…leaving the public confused and incapable of making rational and deliberate choices.
Despite the fact that some wish to strip away the inalienable rights of others to know what harm may come to them or their community through particular acts or allowances, I believe that this clear presentation of the deliberately twisted messages that the media and corporations together perpetuate is not only criminal, but vastly immoral. The idea that the science of anthropogenic effects on climate has been mocked and diminished since the 1950’s by media controlling parties is mind blowing. Television is a problem in this regard, being a great purveyor of propaganda, but certainly not the first and probably not the last tool that will be used to control the masses.
On this note, here is an interesting link exploring how only 5 media companies control all of the information provided to Americans: http://www.rt.com/op-edge/158920-us-ukraine-media-control/ which if true, means that even if people desired “truth” about climate or any subject, the information may not be there for them/us to find. Especially now that the internet has turned into a government regulated utility, ironically, under the guise of “internet freedom”.
Opposition to the act claim that net neutrality means that government will actually decide the “content”…”Once the federal government establishes a foothold into managing how Internet service providers run their networks they will essentially be deciding which content goes first, second, third, or not at all,” Congresswoman Blackburn (R-TN) said in an announcement yesterday. “My legislation will put the brakes on this FCC overreach and protect our innovators from these job-killing regulations.” http://arstechnica.com/business/2015/03/republicans-internet-freedom-act-would-wipe-out-net-neutrality/
Against my own natural inclinations, I might be willing to agree that the masses simply wish to be led and have no interest in the world around them. However that, in my opinion, does not justify the crimes being committed against them via massive dissemination of fantasy and untruths.
Please see the true voices of science on Climate Change, put out by the authors of the International Panel on Climate Change, as presented to 140+countries. Unfortunately, scientists do not make policies, only recommendations. However, citizens can enact necessary change by way of political pressure.
